Today I received a call back from Bajaj Auto’s representative in Delhi, regarding Bardahl engine oil additive which is being promoted at Bajaj Service Centers in Delhi and other states (earlier post).

Here is Bajaj Auto’s official response towards Bardahl engine oil additive for motorcycles:

Bajaj Auto hasn’t made it compulsory to put Bardahl engine oil additive/supplement in motorcycles; Bajaj Auto has not issued any such notices.

Bajaj Auto does not recommends Bardahl engine oil additive/supplement or for that matter, any other engine oil additive/supplements.

Bajaj Auto has not officially tested any of these additives and what ever tests have been conducted, has been conducted locally.

While the Bajaj Auto’s official tried to justify the use of additives by saying they help engine and act in the similar manner as protein does for human body. He also agreed if these additives reduce friction, it would hamper the normal functioning of clutch plates and could cause clutch slippage. Overall he couldn’t answer the basic question, which was how do these additives work and how do they help our motorcycle’s engines, neither he was able to provide any data to back this claim.

I am still awaiting a reply from HOEC BARDAHL INDIA LTD., which is the sole authorized distributor of Bardahl Manufacturing Corp’s products in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Also since the Bardahl engine oil additive is mixed in my motorcycle’s engine oil, I’ll be reporting periodically on its performance.
