Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000, fully synthetic engine oil
Today I purchased a bottle of Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000, 10w40 fully synthetic engine oil. For Rs. 300 a liter, this is about the cheapest fully synthetic engine oil I have come across.
Last time I tried a fully synthetic engine oil in my motorcycle was when I purchased Mobil 1 5w50 fully synthetic oil, the price of which was a whopping Rs.800 a liter! Since it was car engine oil, needless to say, I wasn’t impressed with its performance.
Petronas Sprinta 4T 5000 is a fully synthetic engine oil, made for motorcycles. So it should perform better than the Mobil1, however since it is 10w40 grade and recommended grade for my motorcycle is 20w50, I have a few reservations regarding it. It remains to be seen if the synthetic engine oil can provide better protection than the 50 grade mineral engine oil I normally use. Plus since it only costs Rs. 300 a liter, I can afford to test it, without burning a deep hole in my pocket.

With a big trip coming in the next couple of weeks, this might just be the thing my bike needs. While I’ll get the engine oil changed in a week or so, I will only be able to post a proper review by the end of this month, when my motorcycle would have clocked little over 2,000kms on this oil.

Big trip? Where the big boy is headed now?
It’s a secret, I might reveal it, a day before the trip begins else you will have to wait for me to come back.
