Motorcycle preparations for Independence Day Ride

It is time for me to start unveiling my Independence Day ride plan and preparations, though it would be a few days before I unveil my exact plan. But it would suffice to say that I would once again be looking to push the envelope further and this ride would be the most difficult and dangerous ride of my life!

Yesterday (its past midnight now), I got my motorcycle washed and serviced, though there are still a few things which still need to be fixed, hopefully I’ll get those fixed by the end of the day.

With the odometer now showing 63,150kms, here is a list of things which got done today:

  • Got the motorcycle washed (she was too dirty and acute water shortage in our colony made sure that I had to get her washed from outside)
  • Changed the Engine Oil to Petronas 4T 5000, fully synthetic engine oil
  • Got the clutch wire changed
  • Air filter was cleaned
  • Drive chain was lubricated
  • Tappets were adjusted (hopefully that will fix the low mileage issue I had been facing)

Total damage for the entire exercise was Rs. 250 + Rs. 300 for the engine oil.

I still need to get the head gasket and front brake pad changed, also I need to get the wheel alignment done since even at moderate speeds there is a noticeable wobbling which only accentuates at higher speeds.

Along with this I also need to do quite a bit of shopping for some essential things like the air compressor and I also need to get an heir cut.

Too many things to do and too little time, hope every thing gets done by Wednesday to ensure I have time to rest on Thursday before the ride starts.
