IPL goes abroad, a spat on India’s might!
After weeks of uncertainty, BCCI and organizers of IPL (Indian Premier League) have decided to shift the gaming venue to outside India. Because Indian Government feels it can not provide “security†for cricket matches in India!
While I am no fan of IPL or for that matter cricket and had hardly watched any of its matches last season, I am angry at the fact that a sporting event, which is supposed to be Indian, has to be held outside India!
I mean are we that impotent that we can not provide protection for a sporting event?
Are we scared of bunch of terrorists that we have to change the way we live our lives, which is in fact their main motive?
While government is trying to justify this by saying that it can not provide security cover because of elections being held at the same time. I can not help but wonder, do our security forces have so little strength that they can’t cope up with both these things simultaneously and do our corrupt and impotent politicians are so important as to require all this security, while you and me have to live with a sense of insecurity?
While most likely the decision of the government was politically motivated (only congress its allies ruled states refused to provide security, along with central government), it has in a way changed India forever, especially in the eyes of the global community and has in a way, brought it closer to the “state and status of Pakistanâ€.

i disagree, we are not that impotent to give protection,we have been giving protection so long whenever these sporting events are held,it’s the timing of the event. Will you be happy if the elections are postponed?
Not at all, however what I am wondering is why can’t both be held simultaneously? Let’s look at Delhi, polls are to be held on a single day and I am sure Delhi Police has enough force to provide protection to a sporting event, up to 4-5 days before the polling date or 4-5 days after it! If not, then simply pull some of the force protecting our impotent politicians, who believe in large security cover as a status symbol.
