Went to Bikex India 2007 yesterday with Salil and Puneet, Bikex was herald by its organizers as the first Bike Expo of India and with Bike India and Car India backing it, I thought it would be worth it. The list of participants that was put up by the organizers was impressive to say the least:
Yamaha
Hero Honda
Norton
Bugatti
Bajaj
Royal Enfield
Harley Davidson
Honda
Ducati
Suzuki
Kawasaki
Hero Cycles
Triumph
Kinetic
Atlas Cycles
YO Bykes
Avon Cycles
Bike Europe
Perfect Yamaha
Bike India
Auto Asia
Castrol
Ralco Tyres
MRF
CEAT
I knew, that likes of Ducati, Bugatti won’t be there, but I though at least they will show imported bikes from these manufacturers but no nothing! Here are the participants that didn’t show up from the above mentioned list:
Yamaha
Norton
Bugatti
Bajaj
Harley Davidson
Honda
Ducati
Suzuki
Kawasaki
Triumph
Kinetic
Perfect Yamaha
Bike India
Castrol
MRF
CEAT
Even the stall put up by Royal Enfield and Hero Honda looked more like the stalls of dealers rather then the company.
What was there?
Lots and lots of electric two wheeler manufacturers.
Few bike modifiers
Few bike clubs
And my favorite, vintage motorcycles and scooters. Which was the only saving grace for the show, else I would have asked for my money back! In fact the Vintage Motorcycles and Scooters stall was the largest of the lot and had some really beautiful motorcycles, including a 1904 NSU.
After wasting our time at the Bikex we decided to check out Digital Imaging and Technology 2007 expo which was organized by Smart Photography which is a sister publication of Bike and Car India. After we were made to fill up a form and deposit Rs. 20 per person I hoped it would be better then Bikex and to my relief it was!
Although not as big as the PhotoImaging Asia 2006 but still good enough. Had a wonderful time checking out photography equipments, all in all not a total loss.
Though bikex wasn’t as good as I expected, but vintage motorcycles really saved the day for them.
