I have been using Uniross Rechargeable Batteries for almost four years now; in fact I first bought Uniross Rechargeable Batteries and Uniross Globe Trotter Pocket Charger when I got my first real digital camera.
During this time, I have owned a total of 4 pairs of Uniross nimh batteries, ranging from 2100mah to 2300mah. Out of which, only the first two pairs are now not functioning, because of the numerous amounts of recharges they had to go through to keep up with the number of photographs I take.
Uniross Rechargeable Batteries have provided me top notch performance and even though I have used Eveready and Fuji Rechargeable batteries along with them, I felt Uniross performance was better than the other two.
They have been dependable and have not only provided decent battery backup, they have also managed to retain their charge for weeks, even when left inside the camera.
Overall I have been quite satisfied with them and I am planning to get two more pairs of Uniross 2500mah batteries next month for my upcoming trip.

Nice REview but some numbers would help. Like how many shots per charge for this and how many for competition?
Also you can take this opportunity to review various technologies in rechargeable batteries. How it were Alkaline now they are NiMh and now moving to NiCd.
Am I demanding? Yes! of course, if I do not expect good and deep reviews from you who would I expect it from? Ugesh Sarkar’s fans?
Shots per charge depend on various things, however with the old Kodak CX7430, I was easily getting around ~250 shots from the 2300mah Uniross battery.
Haven’t had the chance to test the capabilities of my new cam (A720IS), but based on the kind of backup I got from the 2100mah Uniross batteries (charged for the first time), I am guessing that number would easily climb to 300-400+, since I must have taken 200+ photos and videos (around half of them with flash) and used the LCD a lot to review photographs and other features, before the low battery sign finally came up.
With regards to others, well 2700mah Fuji rechargeable batteries had a similar performance to the 2300mah Uniross that is when they would work properly.
Eveready 2100mah performed quite well, in fact its performance was similar to that of 2100mah Uniross, but its life got over before the Uniross ones, even though all three pairs were purchased at the similar time. Not really sure if I used it more than the Uniross ones, but overall I did like it a lot.
I don’t really use Alkaline batteries that much, since in the long run they turn out to be expensive (can’t be recharged), never used Nicad since it was old tech and they are known for memory effect.
hey. i am doing a survey on rechargeable batteries used in digital cameras for which i have a questionnaire designed..il be really thankful if you can post it in your blog so that it could be filled in by the anyone interested..thanks
did you use Uniross charger for all batteries or they need to be charged on their specific chargers? have read that chargers make all the difference as far as extending the life of the battery is concerned.
Vikas I use Uniross charger for all the batteries, there is no need for brand specific charger for each battery. Just that the charger ought to be of good quality.
I have one question….how much a pair of uniross rechargeable batteries would cost at present? I had been using one since last year but now I am asked by the camera to change the batteries.
That would depend on the model, but anywhere from Rs. 240-350.
i have purchesed uniross charger with two number of rechargable batterys 2700 MAh from D D Laloo & CO G S road shillong on 21/09/09 with cannon digital camera. But after one month the batterys are not giving satisfied peformence. When it is insert in camera, which show change batters .whereas when put on charge it becomes very hot and not storing charge. Kindly let me know if these two batteries can be replaced as purchased within a very short period.
If you bought them with bill, then you can certainly get them replaced as the legally imported Uniross batteries come with one year warranty.
I don’t agree with your conclusions about Uniross.
I bought AA 2700 mAh Ni-mh and 1000 mAh Ni-mh Uniross batteries with a Uniross charger two years ago. They worked well for a year but when I put them is storage during a training course (cool and dry conditions – inside a tool box)after taking them out they are dead and will not charge (the uniross charger goes Red after a few minutes – which indicates they are not suitable for recharging).
I have tried contacting Uniross but they have not bothered to get in contact with me regarding a solution. Until the company redeem themselves I am very sceptical of their customer service/after sales and am cautious about the lifespan and quality of their products.
How do other brands compare? I’m not in the habit of endorsing a brand until I get evidence of them performing. This hasn’t happened with Uniross i’m afraid
Updated – I have managed to get the Uniross batteries to charge again. This was only possible by using a Sony charger which came with my camera. Now the Uniross charger will charge the Uniross batteries. The Uniross batteries seem to hold their charge as well as they did before they stopped working. So, all-in-all I have some updated conclusions:
Uniross Batteries – 8/10
Uniross Charger – 4/10
Uniross customer service – 0/10
Maybe Uniross could learn how other companies provide a jumper charge in their battery chargers to regain the voltage lost in Ni-MH batteries over time. They would also benefit from answering emails from their customers!
Updated – It seems as if my previous results were premature. Now the Uniross batteries will not charge at all. So all-in-all it’s not looking good for Uniross by my scoring. Faulty batteries in two years? That is a poor quality product I’m afraid.
New score:
Uniross Batteries – 3/10
Uniross Charger – 4/10
Uniross Customer Service – 0/10
i have purchased uniross charger with four number of rechargable batteries 2700 MAh, from Shetala Cameras at Chennai and using it for with cannon digital camera S5IS. The First set have not come for 20 – 25 recharges and my camera shows low battery frequently.. Since the warranty time expired, I purchased another set of batteries (Shetala camea guys told the charger is OK)… again the same problem this time after about 5 recharges camera indicated low battery. I charged for more than 10 – 12 hours still the same problem. I went to Shetala Cameras to identify the problem. Given both the Charges and Batteries. Since it is within the warranty period, they replaced with a new set of batteries (saying the charger is OK).. Again the same problem is occuring with the 3rd set of batteries.. I am confused whether the problem is with the betteries or the charger or the camera? Will any person face similar issues and help me in this regard?

I have purchased a pair of Uniross NiMH 2500mAh batteries for my Canon 350 camera. Does this comes with warranty?
It comes with One Year Seller warranty.. I got replaced from the seller, when I have problem with the batteries..
What about uniross NiMH 1900 mAh batteries. These came free with canon sx120 camera. it just gave around 50 shots on single charge.what is the normal charging time for such batteries.
Shshank, those are too few shots per shots! As for charging time, it depends on the charger.
i brought 2 cells, both are useless totally , are our money lost ?
we are in wating please give us proper cells or give back our money as early as you can.
these two cells are uniross 1000mAh please.
Do you aware about this latest technology i.e Precharge batteries (RTU) Ready to use and also retains its charge upto 80% for a year. Is it really works????
Thats not latest technology, they have around for years now, and I have used them. They work nicely, though make sure they are from Eneloop or Sony.
Dear Murali,
Pls. get your camera terminals checked with the Technician. The problem faced by you might be due to Carbon / dust deposition on the Circuit terminals of your camera. Same problem was faced by me with my Canon A590IS camera few months back.
i have a battery charger of uniross but not woring properly. I pwas purchased this 16 nov. Its in warramty so pls do needful. I have no any contact no of Uniross
I lost one battery from the pair i had so i need to buy them because they are the best i ever had since i was using for a long time, where can i find the shop in Coimbatore.
how many hours we should charge a battery my uniross 2100ma
That is dependent on the charger you are using.
I have purchased Uniross Battery Charger with 9v battery as a combo from Snapdeal on 2nd Jan 2015. The Charger was not working but the battery was charging i had returned the products and Snapdeal has replaced the product with new one. Now i have another set of charger and a battery but again the charger is dead after charging two batteries. I have written to the Snapdeal guys but till now no reponse. In my opinion Uniross products are USELESS. I have another charger “Super Charger” which is doing the job for almost two years. The only problem was it had only one terminal for the 9v battery.
