Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started using Google Adsense Ads (the kind you see on this blog) to promote its candidate for Delhiâ€™s chief ministerial position, Professor Vijay Kumar Malhotra properly known as V. K. Malhotra.
I came across one such ad while browsing BCMTouring Forums, here is a screenshot of that ad (click to enlarge).
While it is good to see Indian political parties become net savvy and using the internet to spread their message, I still feel they have a long way to go before they even come close to their US counterparts.
For instance if I search for V. K. Malhotra in Google, the first result I see is that from NCEUS (National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganized Sector) which hosts the profile of V. K. Malhotra while his personal web site is on the 30th rank!
The less said about the design, organization and SEO of BJPâ€™s official website the better!
I guess Indian politicians who are truly interested in harvesting the power of the internet to spread their message would have an easy time as most of their rivals wouldnâ€™t be able to put up any real resistance any time soon!
