For three years in a row I have gone to Surajkund Handicraft Fair (Mela) and I always enjoyed the fun atmosphere there and this year was no different. Well except for one thing, I was going there with my new camera which is leagues ahead of my previous Digital Camera which I used during past visits.
Armed with the new Canon, I visited this year’s Mela with the sole intention of photography and came back with no less than 1300 photographs from this beautiful fair!
This year it was all about portraits of the performers assembled at Surajkund 2009, here just a few of my favorites from the lot.
Rajasthan folk dancer performing at Surajkund 2009
Punjab Police Cultural Group has been one of my favorite bunch of performers at Surajkund, catching them in mid air is something that I hadn’t manged to do on earlier occasions.
Portrait of a dancer from DPS Sonipat, performing Manipuri Bamboo dance
Portrait of a folk performer from Assam, airbone as he plays dhol with complete love and dedication.
You can view more of my favorite photographs from Surajkund at Surajkund Handicraft Fair 2009 Photogallery.
Can’t wait for the next year to come so I can capture many more such photographs.

….ummm…. the one DPS Sonepat is dancing is a MIZO dance.. not a Manipuri Dance
The dance by the DPS Students is the traditional bamboo dance of “MIZORAM”..not Manipur..there is a huge difference between the two states so please get your facts straight before publishing anything..
