BRO has managed to reopen the Rohtang Pass, after five months of it being buried under several feet of snow.
While Rohtang pass has been officially opened, it would only be opened for vehicular traffic by the 7th of May and that too would depend on the weather staying friendly.
After remaining closed for five months, the Rohtang Pass, the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti district, was reopened last evening.
Commander, 38, BRTF (GREF), SK Doon said a snow-clearing team from Manali and the second team from Khoksar reached the Rohtang Pass and connected the Lahaul and Spiti valley after five months.
He said due to a heavy snowfall here, widening and curving work was not complete yet and vehicular traffic would be allowed to cross the Rohtang Pass on May 7.

However knowing how eager people are to reach Leh, tourist and transport vehicles might start playing soon on the Manali – Leh highway.
