In light of slow construction work on the road to Rohtang Jot, district administration has taken a decision to keep Rohtang pass closed on Tuesdays, between 9am to 6pm for tourist vehicles.
With the Chinese incursions on the rise, it has become necessary for the civil and military administration to ensure that road widening work is complete as soon as possible, to ensure supplies and troop movement aren’t hampered by the mess between Gulaba and Rohtang, which these days is the worst stretch on the Manali – Leh highway.
For those heading to Ladakh, it is not a major issue, as majority of those leaving for Ladakh from the Manali side; leave Manali early in the morning, when tourist traffic would be allowed through. So if you too are heading to Ladakh soon, make sure you keep this in mind.

Hi,
Please let me know if Rohtang Pass is open currently. Also, would you know of anyone who can rent out a 4X4 in Manali for a self-drive option.
Regards,
