Delhi Drum Circles

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending Delhi Drum Circles’ meet at the Deer Park in New Delhi and needless to say, I enjoyed it quite a bit.

For the uninitiated, Delhi Drum Circles is a gathering of music fans (in particular those who love to play drums, but not limited to it) who meet up every fortnight for the jam session, which is open to one and all. Including those who can’t play but love to dance or people like me, who just want to listen and maybe capture a few photographs in the process.

Since it was my first time attending the meet, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, even though I had seen plenty of photographs and discussions on Delhi Drum Circles’ Facebook Page. Thankfully I was there with other photography enthusiasts from BCMTouring (our final count was around 11), so it didn’t feel all that awkward initially, though we were a bit hesitant at first in capturing photographs.

However, once the drums started beating and picked up pace, all the hesitation went away and all of us capturing photographs and really enjoyed the performance. In fact I was amazed by the fact that how coordinated it all seemed, even though they aren’t obviously a band and every individual had different style and musical instrument.

Soon, few people started dancing as well, matching the pace and mood of the tunes being played.

After couple of hours of thoroughly enjoyable performance, it was time to head back home, feeling indebted to Bobby Roy for first introducing me to Delhi Drum Circle, to all the performers for their excellent performance, to all the BCMTians present there for their wonderful company and to my Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II for such lovely photographs.

All the photographs which I took and shared can be viewed at Indian Photog and photographs from BCMTians present at the Delhi Drum Circles (including most of mine) can be viewed on BCMTouring.
