Jaypee Sports International Ltd (JSIL) has decided to slash the price of the tickets for the first ever Indian Formula 1 race by up to Rs. 20,000!
As per the news reports, the price reduction would only be applicable on this Sunday, 23rd October 2011, on tickets purchased from Bookmyshow.com.
On that day, tickets for the Grand Stand would be priced at Rs. 15,000, instead of Rs. 35,000 and a Classic Stand ticket can be booked for just Rs 4,000 against the normal price of Rs 6,500, while that of picnic stand would be available for Rs 3,000 as compared to the usual price of Rs 6,000 per ticket.
For someone who had booked the tickets for the Indian Formula 1 Race, right at the beginning, this is really bad news and no doubt frustrating, but for those who had been in two minds on whether or not to book the ticket, this appears as a perfect opportunity to dive in and get the same ticket for a significantly reduced price.
A big thanks to Rahul Singh for the heads up.

What time the discount(reduction rate) will be applied??
is it from 12:00 AM on 23 oct ?
No idea Swagat, but I guess it ought to be applicable from mid night.
Ok.
How can the organizers slash the ticket prices? What about the people who have paid the entire price of Rs 35,000 for the Grand Stand seats as against the slashed price of Rs. 15,000? So the ones who booked the tickets in the first place that enabled the organisers to boast of the sales of nearly 75% tickets are in the dump and out of favour!! Slashing the prices is the prerogative of the organisers but they are pissing off the early birds who picked the tickets for the full price in the first place. They should pass on this benefit to the early birds if they intend to draw the crowds next year…minus this they will have people waiting till the very end to book tickets at which stage the organisers will have to drop the prices and they can then dream of breaking even 15 years time on their investment…JP Sports please don’t screw this up!!!
Karthik, believe me, I am just as angry as you are about this. However, there isn’t much if anything we can do about this. Heck if I had known this would have happened, I would have waited, rather than going ahead and ordering, as soon as the bookings were open!
i want to sell a tickef for 3 days…..premium south contact on 9920848007
Yogesh
There is slight correction. Ticket prices are not slashed, they just started selling one day ticket too instead of three days as before. These discounted rates are applicable for one day ticket. Previously they were selling only three day tickets, but i guess it didnt work much so they had to provide other solution too.
Ashish
Ashish, this is what I thought initially as well, but there is no mention of that anywhere and this is supposed to be only a one day sale!
Hi Yogesh,
I’m from Kerala. I Booked a Ticket for race day & I’ve to collect the ticket from there only. But Is it possible to obtain the same on race day? Also, How to go from delhi to race circuit? Is it compulsory to book bus tickets in advance? Or can I directly go from there? Please Help.
Thanks,
