I had preordered Samsung Galaxy Grand a few days ago on Ebay.in and I finally received the mobile phone yesterday.
For the uninitiated, Samsung Galaxy Grand is a 5” phablet from Samsung, which accepts dual GSM SIMs (active standby) and comes with 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 1GB RAM (800mb available) and 8GB internal storage (4gb available). It also features Android 4.1.2 out of the box and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and is available in the market for Rs. 21,500 (I got it for around Rs. 20,200, thanks to EBay’s discount coupon).
It also features a 8mp rear camera which can shoot 1080p video and 2mp front facing camera, which is capable of shooting 720x480p video. Here is a photograph of Galaxy Grand’s box I took using the rear camera (with flash), in a room lit by 18w CFL.

Those interested in viewing it full resolution, can do so by clicking here (3.2mb jpeg, straight from camera with no post processing, whatsoever).
Coming to the display, while the colors it produces aren’t as great or as accurate as that of my Sony Xperia Mini ST15i, crispness of text as well as brightness is far-far better and screen is a joy to use, especially while surfing the web or reading news. In fact text quality is better than what I get on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2!
TouchWiz interface of course is a joy to use and features some of the customizations first seen on the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 eg. ability to open two applications at the same time on screen, screen staying on while one is viewing the screen, blocking mode to filter out notifications and calls at night and much-much more.
Since it has been less than 24 hours, since I started using Samsung Galaxy Grand, I believe it would be best for me to write the complete review at a later stage, to ensure I have not only tried out all the features, but also used them in real life situations to give a proper and just feedback.
Till then, all I can say is, this is the best mobile phone I have purchased till date and like me, if you too are looking for a dual SIM smart phone with great features and performance, then at least as of now, Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos is the best one out there in the Indian Market!
Update: Here is Quadrant Standard benchmark results from Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos.
