I recently purchased an office chair from Pepperfry.com for my home office and I am writing this review based on my experience of that purchase.
While searching for chairs online, I came across Pepperfry and they had chairs from companies I had heard about, while majority of other sites didn’t. Add to that, they were offering discount coupons to those registering on their site for the first time as well as selling chairs with 3 interest free EMIs on credit cards.
Based on this, I decided to take a plunge and registered on Pepperfry.com and received a few discount coupons. I used 20% off coupon (maximum discount of Rs. 1,000) to avail Rs. 1,000 off on Nilkamal Blaze High Back Chair, bringing its price down to Rs. 6,200. Only issue was, that it was mentioned that the chair would be shipped by 25th of September, even though I was placing my order on 15th of September. I decided to take the plunge anyway, hoping Pepperfry would ship my chair before that.
Next day I received an email from Pratik from Pepperfry.com, mentioning that in case of any issue or queries, I should contact him through email, instead of customer service team i.e. a dedicated sales/customer care rep had been assigned to my order! Later in the day, I received a phone call from Pratik, mentioning the same.
Days went by, without any change in the order status, which sort of disappointed me. However on the 25th, I received a call from Pepperfry, asking me if they could deliver my chair today! Happily I agree and the wait begun for the chair to be delivered.
However when no one turned up by 6:30pm, I felt a bit angry and emailed Pratik, asking him, where was my chair?
Half an hour later, I got a call from delivery guys, asking me whether it would be alright if they deliver the chair after 8:30pm, because they couldn’t enter my area due to traffic restriction on commercial vehicles. I confirmed positively and around couple of hours later, my chair was delivered to my home.
15 minutes after that, I received an email from Pratik, informing me that he is trying to get in touch with delivery supervisor to ensure that the chair is delivered today. Pleasantly surprised to receive a response after office hours and that too around couple of hours after I had sent an email, I informed him that my chair had been delivered and thanked him for his prompt response.
While Pepperfry did take 10 days to deliver my chair, it was well within the time frame they had mentioned for the delivery, so even though I wish they could have delivered it earlier, I guess there is no valid reason for me to complain. On top of that, this is the best customer service I have received from an Indian E-Commerce Company, I am ecstatic to know that there are companies in India, who take their customer care so seriously and dedicatedly.
The only qualm I have with Pepperfry is the fact that remember me option does not keep you logged in for the entire day on their site and the site seem to work slightly slowly. Apart from that, it was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait to order again from Pepperfry, with hopes that the next experience would be as good if not better than the current one.
