Yunnan and Yi Folk Dance Performances

Yunnan Folk Dance Performance at Chinese Cultural Night was the longest performance of the night, as well as the most diverse. Since dancers after dancers appeared in varied traditional dresses and showcased completely different styles of dancing (you can view first part of Yunnan Folk Dance Performance here).

Next up was singer Ge Sang Dun Zhu, who sang Pretty Girl, I Love You, and A Drinking Song in Chinese. While I couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying (apart from dhoom machale he said couple of times :D), his voice was quite melodious and so were the tunes playing in the background.

Next up was the folk dance performance by Yi ethnic group of China, with a sensual dance, appropriately titled Walking on the Clouds.

I guess songs and dance really transcend all cultural and lingual barriers, which is why even though the audience wasn’t able to understand a single word being said/sung on stage, yet was completely captivated by the performance of Chinese singers and dancers and were thoroughly enjoying the Chinese Cultural Night.

In my next blogpost, I will be sharing Tibetan Dance Performance and a magician, who changes masks so fast, that even when he does it in front of you, you still can’t make out, how he did it!
