Lowepro Event Messenger 250

I just received Lowepro Event Messenger 250 camera bag, which I had bought from Homeshop18 for Rs. 1,971 (after discount).

I had been thinking about buying a shoulder bag, because carrying a backpack to press conferences and indoor events is cumbersome. And the only camera shoulder bag that I have is the free Canon bag I got with my Canon 1000D, which can just about hold my 60D with Tokina 11-16 f2.8 II lens.

Lowepro Event Messenger 250 can easily accommodate my Canon 60D with Tokina 11-16 f2.8 II, with 50mm f1.8 lens placed underneath it or over the Canon 55-250 IS lens on the side. While on the other side I can accommodate Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens with my Canon 430EX-II Speedlight.

If I really want, I can just about squeeze in my Canon 1000D with 50 mm f1.8 attached to it, underneath the 430-EX II Speedlight and place 55-250IS and 17-50 f2.8 lenses on top of each other.

But I guess I won’t be doing this, at least in the foreseeable future.

There is an interior slot for 13” laptop, which can accommodate my netbook or tablet. Another zipped pocket in the front can be used to store spare batteries, small notebook, memory cards, wires etc.. While the outside pocket (which is open) can be used to store gloves, visiting cards or anything that does not requires protection.

While a rain cover would have been nice, the fact that one cannot easily accommodate gripped bodies in Messenger 250 is going to be a major downer for some. Thankfully, I don’t use battery grip anymore, so at least for now, this isn’t an issue for me.

With quite a few events lined up for next week, I will be able to put the Lowepro Event Messenger 250 to some good use and I will post a review of it
